PM visits Dodoma Ring Road project, insists on timely completion

Prime Minister Kasim Majaliwa has expressed satsifaction with progress of the Dodoma Ring Road Project and has urged the contractor to complete the works on time and at the highest quality, TPJ can report.  

The Premier expressed the sentiments last week during his tour of the project in the capital.  

“The work is at a good stage, but we wish the project to be completed even before the time given in the contract, as we would like to meet the wishes of President Samia Suluhu Hassan who is eager to see wanachi enjoying the benefits of the projects, he said.” 

In addition, Mr Majaliwa urged the engineers supervising the project to do the job with integrity and to ensure that the project meets expected standards.   

On the other hand, Acting Manager for Tanzania National Roads Agency  (Tanroads), Eng. Salome Kabunda, said not only that the project would ease  traffic jams in the city but it also employed more than 800 Tanzanians.  

“Implementation of this project will enhance  construction of the four medical centers in streets of Mahomanyika, Veyula, Nala  and Ihumwa.” said Eng. Kabunda and added that the first phase of the project from Nala-Veyula-Mtumba to  Ihumwa Dry Port, covering 52.5 kilometers, will cost TZS 100 billion and is  expected to be completed within 39 months.  

“The second phase of the ring road construction from the dry port of Ihumwa Matumbulu to Nala costing 120.8 billion, will cover 60 kilometres and is expected to be completed within 43 months,” the manager said.  

The 112.3 km road project, which is being implemented by Tanzanian Government, is  financed by the African Development Bank.
